Research Evidence
1. DEVELOPMENT & VALIDATION
The original research describing the development and validation of IBD-Control was published in 2014. This paper describes how the team in Liverpool (UK) worked closely with patients to develop and test the questionnaire:

2. INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION
The IBD-Control Questionnaire was selected for the ICHOM Standard Set for IBD in 2018. The International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement encourages the adoption and reporting of patient-centred measures to drive improvements in healthcare.

In 2023, a Core Outcome Set (COS) for IBD was published following an international consensus process involving patients, clinicians and outcomes research experts. IBD-Control was selected as one of PROMs recommended for capturing patient-reported health status.
